Frequently Asked Questions

About Fable Studios

We’re a video and animation company based in Bristol, at 8a Willway Street, BS3 4BG. We work with clients across Bristol, the UK and internationally, we film at home and abroad, wherever a project takes us.
We’ve been producing video and animation for 20 years, building a portfolio across corporate film, animation, TV advertising and broadcast content for brands large and small.
We bring hard-working marketing expertise and messaging to every video, heavy-lifting strategy and storytelling combined with brand-enhancing visuals. Everything is handled in-house, from strategy right through to delivery, so you have one team across the whole project. And we’re known for being particularly responsive and fast in execution.

We work with a broad mix, with particular experience in financial services, healthcare, consumer products (including kitchen appliances and products for older people) and airlines. Clients we’ve worked with include Hargreaves Lansdown, Marriott Hotels, NatWest, the NHS, the Alan Turing Institute, UWE Bristol, Cosyfeet, Magic Light Pictures, Superdry, Clark Insurance and Bristol City Council.

Services & Capabilities

We offer video and animation marketing, strategy and production, end to end and all in-house. That includes:

  • Video strategy and ideation
  • Filming and video production (UK and foreign filming)
  • 2D animation, 3D animation and motion graphics
  • TV adverts, Connected TV and Clearcast compliance
  • Corporate video, brand films and product launches
  • Explainer videos, interviews, talking heads, case study films and testimonials
  • Social content, reversioning and internal comms / marketing video
  • Voice-over, editing, audio mixing and YouTube channel optimisation and management
We focus on what we do best: video and animation, from strategy to delivery. We don’t offer web design, media buying, interactive video or 360-degree video. If you need something outside that, we’ll happily point you in the right direction.

It depends on your message and we produce both in-house, so we’ll give you honest advice. Filmed video is brilliant for authenticity, real people and emotion. Animation comes into its own for explaining complex or abstract ideas, visualising things that are hard or impossible to film, and keeping a consistent, brand-led look. Many projects use a blend of the two.

AI tools are useful, and we use them where they genuinely help. But they can’t replace the things that make a video actually work for your brand: sharp strategic messaging, real people and real stories, considered craft, and production values that reflect well on you. The thinking and the finish are where a video earns its return and that’s what we bring.

Yes. Many clients come to us with a problem to solve rather than a finished idea, and our team develops the concept, script and storyboard from there. If you already have a concept or script, we’ll work to it and add creative input to make it as strong as possible.

Our Process

Yes, every project follows a clear, proven path so you always know what’s happening and when:

  • Brief — we get to know your problem, audience and goals.
  • Creative response — we come back with our thinking and approach.
  • Confirmation of project — we agree scope, budget and timeline.
  • Script — we write and refine the script with you.
  • Style frames & storyboard — we show you the look and structure before production.
  • Production — filming and/or animation, managed end to end.
  • Voice-over record — where the project calls for it.
  • Colour grading & audio mixing — the polish that lifts the finish.
  • Reformatting — versions and aspect ratios for where the video will live.
  • Delivery — final files, ready to use.
Absolutely. Feedback is built into the process, you review and approve at the key stages, including the script, the style frames and storyboard, and the edit. We keep you involved throughout so the final film is exactly what you need.

You’ll have dedicated production management as your single point of contact, coordinating the creative, crew, schedule and edit from brief to delivery.

Pricing & Budget

Most of our projects fall between £7,000 and £80,000, depending on scale and ambition. Because every project is different, the best next step is to download our rate card from the website, or have a quick no-obligation chat so we can give you an accurate figure based on what you actually need.
A video is a service made of people, time and craft, and all three scale with ambition. The main factors are the amount of strategy and scripting involved, crew size and filming days, the volume of animation and motion graphics, and finishing work like voice-over, grading and audio mixing. Talent, foreign filming and licensed music can also affect the cost.
Yes. Tell us the budget you have in mind and we’ll be honest about what’s achievable within it, then design the best possible project around it, making sure every pound is spent where it shows.

A few things help us quote accurately: the problem you want to solve, where the video will be used, what resources you can commit, any ideas you already have, the budget you have in mind, and any preference on duration and production style. From there we can have a no-obligation chat and put together a quote.

We generally work from a minimum of around £7,000. Below that, video may not be the most effective use of your budget, and we’ll always be straight with you about that.

Timelines & Turnaround

As a guide, a typical project runs between 6 weeks to two months from first enquiry to final delivery, taking in the brief, creative, scripting, production and post-production. Simpler projects can move faster, and larger campaigns can take longer, we’ll give you a clear timeline at the start.

Yes, responsiveness is something we’re known for. We aim to reply to enquiries quickly, and fast, well-managed execution is a core part of how we work.

We’ll always do our best to hit the date you need, and we’re known for moving quickly. We won’t over-promise on an unrealistic timeline, though, we’d rather be honest up front and deliver something we’re proud of. The sooner you talk to us, the more we can do.

Filming & Logistics

We’re based in Bristol and film across the city, the UK and internationally. Foreign filming is part of what we do, so wherever your story needs us, we can be there.

Yes. We bring professional crew and equipment, including cameras, lighting and dedicated audio. You don’t need to provide anything technical, just the people, premises or products that feature in the film.

Yes. When a project needs professional talent or voice-over, we can source, cast and record it for you, and we’ll factor any talent and usage costs into the quote up front.

Post-Production, Delivery & Usage

We deliver in the formats you need for where the video will live, web, social, presentation, broadcast or Connected TV. We reformat into the versions and aspect ratios required, so you’re ready to publish everywhere.

Yes, it’s one of the best ways to get more value from a shoot. Reversioning a main film into shorter social cuts and different formats means one production gives you many assets, ready for Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube.

Yes. Beyond producing the content, we offer YouTube channel optimisation and management to help your videos get found and perform once they’re live.

You own the final delivered film for the agreed usage. Ownership of raw footage and any extended licensing (for example for paid advertising) is set out clearly in our terms and conditions.

Results & Getting Started

Yes, it’s central to what we do. We bring marketing strategy and messaging to every project, getting clear on the problem you’re solving and how the video will be used before we make anything. That’s what turns a nice film into one that delivers a real return.

Of course. You can watch our showreel and browse our work on the website. Recent favourites include UWE’s undergraduate recruitment campaign, Cosyfeet’s ‘Friendship’ film, Happy Hot Tubs, the ‘Wealth 50’ work for Hargreaves Lansdown, and Howard Motor Group’s ‘Grandad Knows Best’.

Just get in touch by email at hello@fablestudios.tv, or call us on 0117 908 1360. Tell us a little about your project and we’ll arrange a no-obligation chat and put together a quote. Our business hours are 8am to 6pm.

We’ll have an initial conversation to understand the problem you want to solve, then come back with a creative response and a quote. Once you’re happy, we confirm the project and move into scripting and production — keeping you involved at every key stage.
